Stagnant Living

The adult life can sometimes get a little...stale if you know what I mean. Especially in the winter, when seasonal depression is at a high and inspirational living is at a low.

Work, eat sleep.

That tends to be my life when I get into these states. Which makes my depression worse. Which makes my anxiety worse. And the spiral goes on.

So how does one get out of the circle of life, if you will? Honestly? I'm still figuring this out. If one is struggling mentally, going back to the basics is a good place to start. Make sure your body has everything it needs: good food choices, intake of water, movement, medications, vitamins, sleep. Take care of your body to keep it moving.

Then one can get creative. Get a hobby. Preferably a creative hobby, writing, reading, photography, scrapbooking, rock collecting, gardening to name a few. Get those creative juices flowing.

Then, look at oneself and your purpose. What are your gifts? How can you contribute to the world in a positive way with the gifts and skills you have been given and nurtured? This doesn't have to be a job, to be clear! This can be a thing you do on the side.

But make sure, when you figure it out, you make time for it. Whether early in the morning before work, after work, on your days off, all of the above:

Make. Time.

This might help with the stagnant life problem. And if you're finding this hard, like I am, seek help from a professional and your community.

But keep growing, keep going, and try!
